Guadalupe “Lupe” Gallegos Tafoya was born May 19, 1908 in Saladito, NM (Now El Rito, NM). She joined La Costura de Saguache in 1976. “I was a little afraid to draw a horse-or whatever-and then stitching it, but Carmen assured me that it could be done. Since then I say that nothing in my whole life has given me more pleasure than working with such a group as La Costura de Saguache.” Lupe’s artwork can be viewed in the Colorado Room at the Saguache Public Library.
